From The Campaign Trail: Mayfest Rutherfordton

Mayfest was a whole lot of fun. Glad to meet the friendly folks in Rutherfordton.

From the website:

MayFest is one of the longest running festivals in North Carolina and one of the best attended. Drawing visitors and vendors from across the region, it's the first chance to welcome in spring!

Among our favorite attractions and traditions

  • Local Boy Scouts host their district Pinewood Derby Race in addition to interactive booths, a tee-pee exhibit and scouts dressed in Native American regalia. There is also plenty of activities for kids including Play Land (with a wide assortment of inflatables, rock climbing walls, pony rides and face painting).
  • A hundred vendors line Main Street, representing the best in local and regional talent, including wood turned bowls, hand crafted wooden toys, one of a kind hand made jewelry, hand knitted and crocheted items, quilts and uniquely designed wreaths.  If you can't find 5 things you MUST have, you're not trying!
  • Dance presentations, martial arts exhibitions, local bands, radio station broadcasts and even a good old fashioned dunking booth are just some of our interactive activities
  • And don't forget all our fabulous food vendors!
